The best cheese EVER!Feb 14, 2009

I tried this cheese for the first time on a cheese plate at a Wisconsin wine bar. I know... an English cheese in Wisconsin? But yes, it's that good. I bought a quarter pound of it the next day at a cheese shop there and fell in love with it forever. The Wensleydale Creamery from Hawes's "Abbot's Gold" cheese (sold by iGourmet as "English Cheddar with Caramelized Onions") has a rich, sultry flavor of caramelized onions that complements the dense, slightly crumbly true English cheddar in the best possible way. It's fantastic sliced thinly on a buttery cracker or slightly thicker on a good crusty loaf of bread with a side of fruit, on a grilled cheese or roast beef sandwich, melted into mashed potatoes with leeks and bacon, or anything else your heart desires, this cheese is the best cheese ever! iGourmet ships it re-packaged and re-labeled (unless I suppose you order an entire wheel) in a vacuum sealed thick plastic and ships in an insulated bag with gel packs so the cheese arrives in perfect condition. I was very pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy this again.

The long and short of it....this cheese is absolutely wonderful! It is a bit pricey, but you won't be disappointed! It is so rich and just melts in your mouth. Easily one of the top ten foods I have tasted this year!
