Description:

Nestled in among the rolling hills of central Iowa is Maytag Dairy, which produces Maytag Blue cheese. Shortly before World War II, F.L. Maytag II began working with scientists at Iowa State University to begin making a great American blue cheese, modeled after those of Europe. The result was one of the first American farmstead cheeses of superior quality. Maytag cheese makers, however, are still hand making the same cheese that they created in the 1930's. Maytag Blue's popularity has taken off with the growing interest in American farmstead cheeses, and this wonderful, tangy blue cheese is now featured on menus across the country. Its wonderful flavor, moist yet crumbly texture, and lemony finish make Maytag one of the world's great blue cheeses.

5Migraine suffers--enjoy this without pain!!Nov 04, 2003
By M. Hastie "Elvenbeads"
This is awesome cheese. And for me and a few of my friends who suffer migraines and have trouble with blue cheese, are able to eat this. I first heard on Emeril Live that this cheese is different than other blue cheeses. And he is right, whenever I can find and afford it, I have been able to enjoy it without pain. I hope you enjoy it as well.

5FOR BLUE CHEESE LOVERSDec 20, 2005
By J. Kolodziejski "Jackie"
This is the absolute BEST blue cheese I have ever tasted! I think the creaminess is what makes it so good! I would recommend it to anyone who likes blue cheese - you WILL NOT be disappointed.

5Top Of The Mark!Oct 17, 2005
By Candy Fitzgerald
On our San Francisco trip my husband took me to the Top Of the Mark for a relaxing evening. One of the highlights of the evening was the discovery of the best blue cheese we have ever tasted. The taste, smell and texture was so unique that we would not leave the restaurant without finding out what brand it was. The minute we returned home. we went shopping for Maytag Blue Cheese. Thanks to online ordering we can relive the delicious experience.

5The Best I've Found.Aug 18, 2006
By Berlin Porcelain "Meh."
I'm a fairly picky eater, have a bad fear of eating anything out of date/moldy etc., and am lactose intolerant, but I Love blue cheese. One night when I still lived in San Francisco a group of us went to Kincaid's Bayhouse. Home of the Maytag Blue Cheese Salad, I ordered it, immediately wrote down the name of the cheese (and the Ty Nant bottled water I had to drink) and was a happy clam once I ordered some of it online.

Maybe it's just me but blue cheese doesn't make me sick the way most other cheeses do...

Been awhile since I bought some, but I'm going to order some more soon. I wish the stores around here carried it. :) It's pricey, not something I could order all the time but when I can I think it's worth every penny.
